adventure!

This was in the beginning of the latest Agatha Christie book I started:

"To all those who lead monotonous lives in the hope that they may experience at second hand the delights and dangers of adventure."

Doesn't that make you want to go on an adventure?! To do something exciting first hand instead of reading about it second hand?! It does for me, anyways. And so I begin - planning an adventure.

yumm.

veggie broth: the best way to use up the all the old veggies in your fridge. (unless you have a goat. then he would be very happy to eat the old veggies in your fridge)


my plan is to turn this soon-to-be veggie broth into hot and sour soup. and then I'm going to (try to) make fried rice to go with it. hopefully it turns out, and my family won't end up ordering out pizza tonight :P

friends

Friends are great. Change that. Good friends, are great.

One of my favorite quotes is to have good friends, you must be a good friend (it goes something like that, anyways). Lately I've come in contact with some 'friends' - that really only want to be friends when it's convenient for them, or when they have a favor to ask. That's hard.*

I was reading Scripture last night, and was really encouraged by 2 Thessalonians 3:13. It says "do not grow weary of doing good". I love that verse. Because sometimes you get sick and tired of doing the good, right thing - especially when others around you don't care about being good. But we are encouraged to not grow weary of doing good - even when it comes to 'friends'. So that's something God's been teaching me of late.

*and no, I'm not trying to point a finger at someone who I know will read this blog post... I doubt the person/people I'm thinking of will read this. :)


EDIT: apparently, this was my 200th post. I'm not crazy on blog stats like that, but that's kinda cool!

my dear friend had the most lovely wedding on Sunday afternoon. lots of roses, white flowers, candles, smiles, tears, laughs, and bubbles (as she drove away with her husband). I was so blessed to be able to be a part of it - and here's to wishing Rochella and Jonathan all the best in the world.

....loading.....

I'm sitting in the Library, watching all the childrens books come up from downstairs. It rained, quite badly, and the basement of the Library is getting flooded. :( So people are everywhere, moving books, trying not to let any get ruined. Yes, I think our town needs a new Library asap. (but if you live here, you've known that we've needed a new one for awhile now)

I'm also sitting here waiting for my very last Algebra video to produce (thus the title). The last one! And it was on Combinations... how cool, right? For an example problem I got to draw a picture of ice cream 8-) At least I was able to get through the Binomial Theorem... that was never my favorite in High School, and I didn't like it any more having to teach it now. Oh well - Halleluyah I'm done!

Another cool thing... my sis is getting married in two days. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I've been this excited for something in a long time, honestly. Hopefully I'll be able to get some photos from the big event, and post them here or on my photo blog.

yay - fireworks!

Why couldn't the founding fathers have written this instead??

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, the pursuit of Happiness, and the cool accents those British people have.

I'm kidding... while they do have the best accents ever, I'm SO thankful for all those people that risked their lives 200+ years ago for our freedom. Where would we be without them? At any rate - Happy Independence Day, everyone! Today, my family has plans to shoot fireworks, do some yard work, and have the traditional chili cheese dogs and s'mores. :D  (and I'm going to make Algebra videos... deadline is coming up!)
