French Fries, anyone?

Ever heard of the Donner Party? If not, you sure missed out in history class (Well, sort of. It's not the happiest story in the world.) You can read about the whole story here, if you so wish.

As we were driving to California today (and yes, as I write, I am now in California. How cool is that?!), you would not believe the amount of Donner related - things we passed on the road. Donner State Park, Donner Rest Area, Donner Lake, Donner Restaurant..... !!! Just kidding, we didn't actually see Donner Restaurant, but Ezra sure thought it would be funny if we had.

What was really ironic, was back when we were in Nevada, we stopped at a gas station for fuel, restroom break, and French Fries. (a road trip just isn't a road trip without French Fries.) While we were waiting for our fries, I told Mom and Dad about this comic I had seen on the internet. Mom, being the history buff that she is, laughed long and hard, but I had to explain the story to Dad. Here it is:

It's hilariously funny... in a really sad, pathetic sort of way. Needless to say, the day was full of Donner Party jokes (we're so mean, aren't we?), history lessons, and thankfulness for French Fries.
