the one and only... iPad!

WARNING: This is a geeky post.

Yesterday as I was in the parking lot, waiting to pick my Dad up from work, he came out to the truck and said some beautiful words to me: "Hey Indi, a co-worker of mine just got that new i-whatever. Would you like to come and check it out?" (all with a grin on his face, knowing what my answer would be). I naturally grinned back and jumped up and down like a little kid saying "YES!!!!"

Overall, the iPad is a really sweet piece of technology! (I still wish they would have named it something else though.) The graphics were stunning... there were a few 3D apps I played with - and it was like you were actually there! (played with a solar system one.... ooooh yeah!) The clarity was really nice, and you could zoom in forever on text or a picture (or anything, really) and it was still clear as a bell. The touch part of it was nice and responsive - probably a bit faster than my iPod Touch. The iBooks app was really neat too - just a swipe across and the page turns! How they set up the iPod music part of it was cool... and surfing the web was fast and fun.

I don't think I would buy one though - just because it's pretty much exactly like an iPod Touch - only bigger (can't exactly throw it in your pocket and go). It's not big enough to type on it like a regular computer keyboard (at least, not for me), and it lacks a few things that would have made it more awesome. Like, voice-in capability to make phone calls (on Skype!), a webcam would have been cool... and flash!

All in all, it was a super sweeeet thingy, but for size and function, I think I'll stick with my iPod Touch. (although, Apple does get coolness points for releasing the iPad on my birthday!)

And now for a random piece of news... I got my 10,000th email today! How cool is that? And, since it's in Gmail, I'm only using 16% of my available space. *dances a jig* (so, here's to everyone who has ever sent me an email! ;) )

p.s. sorry to all my non-geeky friends out there... just ignore this post. Not to mention the fact that I had a Computer Science exam this week... I'm in a bit of a geeky mood. :D

p.p.s New thing on my sidebar! (in case you haven't noticed) It's.... *drumroll* the random quotes box! I'll be putting quotes I find in there - and I'll be changing it every so often. Today, it happens to go with this post, but it may not always be like that. Enjoy! :D

"Change we can believe in"

*cough cough* No I'm not one of "those" people (much the opposite, I might add)... but I'm blogging about a change to the Music Monday thing. (thus, the ever-so-appropriate title) For reasons known only to myself... I'm going to change it to once a month and then post four songs. :) I think that will work better.... seems my blog is getting pretty cluttered with posts about music and this isn't a music blog. So yeah, that's the plan for now. If you don't like that idea, leave me a comment and let me know. Otherwise "Monthly Music" will be on like the second Monday of every month or something like that. :)

Totally off-topic:
God's promises.
It's really amazing that God gives us His promises, isn't it? I mean, we make promises, and we might try to keep them and do a not-too-bad-job at it... but think about it. There could always be something that comes up to stop us from keeping our promises (which is why I don't think we should make promises... but that's another topic for another day). But see, when God promises something, you know for 110% fact that it's going to happen! Take for example, the first few chapters of Genesis. God sends a flood to wipe out the entire population of the earth (save 8) because they were SO evil. Looking around at the world today... you wonder how much more terrible humanity could get. Anyways, God sends a flood. When the flood is over, He makes a covenant with Noah (and us) and promises He will *never* flood the entire earth again. How do we know this is true? Because today, after it rains, we see a rainbow in the sky. That's God's reminder to us, that He will never destroy the earth with a flood again. Isn't that beautiful?!

*sighs* It's such a good reminder, as I look outside... and see it raining. Feels like it's been raining for forty days and forty nights here. And goodness knows we don't need the rain!! I was listening to the radio the other day, and the weather guy says ''this weekend we are going to be getting some much needed moisture''...dude! What planet are you from?! Come visit the lake in my yard and take all the moisture you need! ...ugh. So yeah, it's raining... but rather nice to know that God isn't going to flood the earth again - as I spy that rainbow in the sky.

*sew* much fun!

Well, when I passed my last CLEP test, the proctor informed me that as finals are the next two weeks at the college, I can't take another CLEP for two weeks. BURN! I was on a roll... and totally ready to be done testing in May... oh well. God had other plans, evidently. So what shall I do in the meantime? ...I'm not sure. Just kidding! I'll have lots of time for sewing dance recital costumes! Fast facts:

Annual Dance Recital is May 18th, 19th and 20th.
There are approximately 500 dancers in the recital.
There are 46 different dances in the recital.
There are about 800 costumes in the recital.
Most of the costumes are... handmade. By slave workers such as me. ;)

Yeah! So, with us having to hand out all 800 costumes in three weeks, and there are only four people who sew... AND we are extremely behind - you can imagine the stress level! But it's fun, good, I love doing it, and I get paid. Not much better! Νaturally, I have pictures to show you!! (and I'll have more up later, when the final products are completed) :D Click on the picture below to go to my Picasa album to see all of them. Sorry for the low quality... my camera phone isn't the greatest. Enjoy though!!

Music Monday III

Ever heard of Demon Hunter? Don't let the name scare you off - while some of their songs are a bit on the screamo side, some of their songs are really awesome! They are a Christian band of five guys from Seattle Washington (gains coolness points for being from the great state of WA), and currently they have 5 albums released.

A good friend of mine recently showed me this song, and I instantly knew it was one that would go on my favorites list. It's a great song about redemption and salvation... and all the pain that comes before that. It's a bit on the rock side, but even if you don't like that genre, give it a chance! The lyrics are pretty awesome, to say the very least. Enjoy it! And let me know what you think. ;)

enjoying old books....

From time to time I've shared links with you of other cool blogs, and that time has come again! This is actually one that I'm participating in, however, so forgive me for the tiny self-promotion. (goes to hide)

Anyhow - this is a blog about BOOKS!!! Specifically, old books. A few other girls have started and kept up this blog, sharing timeless treasures with the internet world. If you'd like to check it out, and maybe even become a ''follower'' (oh, how I wish Blogger would have come up with a different name for that) - that would be cool!! Enjoy and God bless!

The Old Books Club

By the way, if you have old books, and are an avid lover of them too, maybe you'd want to think about leaving a nice comment, or, becoming a contributor! You can find 'how to become a member' instructions, right here. :)

let's have a TEA Party!!

April 15th. Tax day. Haven't we been Taxed Enough Already?!?!?! I think so, which is why I attended the local TEA Party with my family last night. There were only about 150 people there (yes, I live in a small town), but it was awesome! There were speakers, petitions, signs, lots of "Don't Tread on Me!" flags... overall, it was pretty great! ....except for the fact that it was REALLY cold and REALLY windy. It was well worth it, however.

Click on the picture to read the article in our local news, if you care to. Dad and I made the front page... *gulp* But, if that means I get to tell people why I was at the TEA Party and what in the world it's all about - then cool! (oh, and my mom gets all the credit for making the signs ;) )

Music Monday II

Welcome to the second installment of Music Mondays!!!

This week's song is by a dear, dear friend of mine. She was my dance teacher for a number of years, and is an amazing dancer as well as an amazing musician. She wrote, played, and recorded this song (on her Mac, no less!!!) specifically for a Modern dance that I got to dance in! It's beautiful! Quite a bit different than last week's, but I sincerely hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.

Just a note from me to you. :)

If it's not big enough, you can open it bigger and read it here. :)
Oh, by the way, "lehitra'ot" means ''see you later!" in Hebrew.

Music Monday I

Welcome to the first edition of Music Mondays!!! I have decided, that each Monday, I'd share a song with everyone. Mondays are not the greatest day of the week, but if you can come over here for a song, it might make things better, right? ;)

The song for today is by Aviad Cohen. (http://www.aviadcohen.com/) He's a Messianic rapper-ish singer, who used to be known as 50 Shekel (haha!). He was born Jewish, and grew up Jewish... then Jesus came into his life in 2005! So now he shares his faith with the Jewish people (through his singing) who reject Jesus as their Savior and Messiah. I like his songs a lot - most have the dance party flavor, as well as having great meaning. I'm sharing a song with you called "Lonely Hearts." I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

(fyi: in the "~music~" tag above I will have all the links to the songs as a lovely archive)

FINALLY!!!!!

Well everyone, as of yesterday, April 3rd...... I'M FINALLY 18!!! *does a happy dance* I've been waiting to be 18 for, well, as long as I can remember. You may ask why this is so monumental... so here are the things I have been looking forward to:

  • I can get my very own eBay account!!!!
  • I can get my very own Blockbuster account!!! (although I highly doubt I will do this anyways)
  • I can register to vote!!!!! (can't wait to get home and do that)
  • I'm now an adult. (according to the world... I suppose :P )
(yeah, go ahead and laugh) So, let's see... my day went like this. Woke up, my dear family wished me happy birthday, then headed outside to play some football with my brothers. I received my first present of the day... a wonderful cut on the inside of my mouth. It's my own fault, I didn't catch the ball that Ezra threw to me.... and it smacked me right in the face. Then, had lunch (which was not fun at all, based on the new present inside my mouth), and headed over to do Torah study with four other wonderful families. That was really great... there isn't anything like studying Scripture with other believers. After that, one of my dearest friends and I went for a long walk, talking about anything and everything.... where I received my second present of the day - a sunburn. (we were in Kentucky, and no, it doesn't take much for me to burn). THEN! The coolest part of the day - a bunch of people (mostly my age) all gathered together on the grass with various music players and speakers to do some awesome Israeli dancing!!!!!! I haven't danced like that in a long time, and it was SO great. We spend hours doing that - then ate supper, listened to some great teaching, and went to bed. Aaah what a great day.

Now, to appease y'all's curiosity, the Israeli dancing we did was like this. (see link below) Total AWESOMENESS!!! Sadly, we didn't have the costumes these guys did.... but the dance we did is the same.

(teaser: coming up tomorrow... a new thing I'm starting called "Music Mondays" be sure to check back... cause it's gonna be cool)
(oh, and, thanks for voting in my poll if you did!! I think I'll stick with the new name :D )
